From Raphaelle Stopin's introduction :
"From his journeys, he retained 16 sites across 2 continents. Selected with the help of a volunteer network that lists biodynamic cultivation and permaculture initiatives at an international level, the sites are representative of radical experiments carried out individually or collectively in the silence of mountains and forests. These men and women have decided to do without what are generally considered basic amenities such as electricity or running water. And, whether they are driven by an ecological desire for self-sufficiency, an impulse for civil disobedience or survivalist concerns, they have nonetheless chosen to forgo the attributes of modern comfort and are attempting to construct new systems. The cabin, a space constantly altered and added to by its architect-inhabitant, acts as a manifesto in this respect. Its walls display the plasticity inherent in this basic kind of architecture, which is adjustable to different uses and adaptable to constraints. A unique harmony emerges from each of them, in spite of the disparity of materials and components. Caravans, boards, foam mattresses, solar panels, all gradually shed their character as artefacts and blend into a homogeneous material, permeable to the surroundings, which takes root there and grows.

Although photography is by its very nature an instant, chosen in the uninterrupted flow of time, these photographs make no attempt to extract a precipitate of shimmering colours. Antoine Bruy has made images, in the same clay-like monochrome, of spaces - constructions, bodies, faces - that have been acted on by time. In both the landscapes and the portraits, time has been at work everywhere, weathering the fences, furrowing the ground, ageing the faces."
